I’m a huge fan of fire apparatus from the 1920s. Finding a restored piece like this in a parade inspires me to dig a little deeper and find more of the rich, proud history we share in the fire service.

The Ford Model T started selling in 1929 and the popularity of motorized vehicles replaced horse drawnand steam powered pumps. The “roaring twenties” began a revolution in fire apparatus construction that featured sirens, lights and a variety of storage for firefighting equipment. Buildings were being built tallerso apparatus started to hold long, extendable ladders to reach floors as high as a hundred feet or more. Stay safe.

Shameless self-promotion alert:
If you go to my online shop, I’m selling postcards and posters featuring this firetruck as part of a series.
