I was never really into it, but some EMTs I worked with had some kind of strange, manly, heroic, grand vision of popping the caps of the Epi whenever there was a working code. Seriously! Ever get hit in the head from your partner flicking one of these caps off? No? Well I have… TWICE! Maybe it’s the same in your community, but the common thread seems to be that these individuals always have scissors in their pockets, lots of lights, EMT stickers, those little uppers or downers type license plate add-ons and they often carry their own first-in bags. I’m not against some of this…

Truth be told, I make some of those little stickers and carrying a basic first-in bag seems fairly responsible especially in those smaller volunteer communities. But seriously, why are we flicking those stupid caps? Someone has to go and pick them up later, maybe even the family member had to after we left. Maybe we could do better. Stay safe.
